Gautam Hathkute is a struggling movie director, chasing his luck to get himself settled as a director in the film industry. He has a couple of flop films on his name. His failure has burdened him with credit liabilities, as a result, the recovery agents are breathing down his neck. This has ruined his family life, with his wife and their only daughter abandoning him, leaving him alone to chase his dreams.

One day, Gautam comes across a script. Pungi Vajli Re hisssss.... a spoof on Valentine's Day written by a struggling writer Jalinder Ulemale who works at a gas station. Gautam gets hooked to the script and decides to make a film on it. He calls upon his old struggling colleagues from the film industry and tries to make a film of his dreams. But he needs a "star" performer to sell his film, so he tries to rope in superstar Agnikant alias A.K for the film. A.K refuses to work in the film.

Gautam takes this as a challenge and shoots the entire film with a hidden camera, without letting A.K know that he is being filmed. One fine day, A.K goes missing for reasons unknown. Gautam who is worried about the completion of his film, suddenly remembers a look alike or duplicate of A.K, ‘Madhav’, who had come from the village to make it big in the film industry and had auditioned for a role in Gautam's film. ‘Madhav’ is selected for the completion of A.K's role in the film. This is the crux of the story.

It is a story of the reincarnation of Naagraaj and Naagraani who are desperate to reunite on this earth. So, they are reborn to complete their unison and when they do succeed in the climax of the film, it is the 14th of February, Valentine's Day. Hence the film is ‘PUNGI PREMACHI’.
